My name is Carole Thorsen. I was raised in Scottsboro, Alabama which is about 45 miles southeast of Huntsville. I graduated with a BS in elementary education from UAH in Huntsville. After I graduated I taught 4th grade at Brownwood Elementary School in Scottsboro. Then I got married. My husband was a Lutheran School teacher at The Lutheran School in Chattanooga, TN. Of course, I moved to Chattanooga and taught 4th grade at a small elementary school in Rossville, GA. After I had my first child I became a stay-at-home mom.

When my husband received a call to Harlingen, TX they also needed a teacher for the combined 3rd and 4th grade class so I went back to teaching. I taught at St. Paul's in Harlingen for 3 years and then had another baby. I now had 4 children. My husband received a call to St. John's Lutheran School in Lincoln, TX and we moved again. Immanuel Lutheran School, down the road in Giddings, TX, needed a 4th grade teacher so I taught there for 1 year and then transferred to St. John's when there was an opening the following year. I taught there for 3 years until my oldest daughter was ready for high school. We wanted her to attend a Christian school so we both went to Brenham Christian Academy in Brenham, TX where I began my middle school teaching career.

The following year my husband received a call to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Stuart, FL. That year I found an opening at Jupiter Christian School teaching 7th - 8th grade English. My daughter and I both got tired of commuting to school so we were fortunate to find an opening the next year at Community Christian School in Stuart. I taught middle school for 2 years and self-contained 6th grade for 2 years and then we decided to move back home.

I had my 5th and final baby in August of 2004 and stayed home that year to take care of him. The following year I took a job teaching 1st grade at Grace Lutheran School, and the next year I became the middle school English teacher when Mrs. Hays retired. This is my 3rd year of teaching at Grace Lutheran school and I feel truly blessed. I bring to this job many years of experience teaching in different schools and different grade levels. I also have 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 23. God has blessed me richly and I hope to be a blessing to my students at Grace Lutheran School.
