Besides the regular curriculum I teach a unit involving the hatching of chickens and ducks, a unit on butterflies beginning with caterpillars, and a 2-week unit on Native Americans based on children's literature on Native Americans. The 2nd Graders go on a trip to the Huntsville Botanical Gardens each year. Other trips are arranged as the year goes on.
